REMEMBERED

Marilyn Harshbarger, a member at Peoria First and long-time active volunteer in the Mountain Mission project at Henderson Settlement in Kentucky, passed away May 13. Originally from Kansas City, she spent many years as a teacher and office manager. A memorial service was held May 30 at Peoria First. Our prayers are with the congregation and her family and friends. The full obituary can be found here.

Dale E. Minnich, former denominational staff and leader, passed away June 3. Dale served as interim general secretary in 2016. He was a member of the denominational board from 2004 to 2011, serving as chair from 2009 to 2011 during the merger of the former General Board and the former Association of Brethren Caregivers board, forming the Mission and Ministry Board. He spent nearly 20 years on the denominational staff filling a variety of positions, at one point serving as associate general secretary and executive for the General Services Commission. Dale spent many years volunteering and was instrumental in advocating for the work of the Haiti Medical Project. Nancy Miner, co-district executive in Western Plains and former member of this district, called Dale one who “served with grace, wisdom, and deep faith.” A celebration of life service will take place Sept. 5 at McPherson (Kan.) Church of the Brethren. The full obituary can be found here.
