Peace Pole and Peace Garden Dedication in Canton
On Saturday, March 19, 2005, the Canton Church of the Brethren participated in an interfaith Peace Pole and Peace Garden Dedication service held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Canton, IL. The service included prayers and readings from various faith traditions, speakers from three faith traditions and two county agencies that promote peaceful and non-violent means of human interaction.
The peace pole is planted in the peace garden on the property of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. The FCUCC congregation has extended an open invitation to all of Fulton County to use the site for rallies, demonstrations, services, and vigils promoting peace and non-violence.
