A bit of district trivia: This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Church of the Brethren Annual Meeting (now Annual Conference) taking place in Macoupin County, Illinois—home to the Virden and Girard congregations today. That 1874 meeting was the third time the Annual Meeting had taken place in Illinois; it was in Stephenson County in 1856 and Lee County in 1865. It has taken place in the Land of Lincoln another eight times since 1874, most recently in 2005 in Peoria.
