PERSONNEL NOTES

The Virlina District board of the Church of the Brethren called Angella F. Haranzo to serve as associate district executive minister on a half-time basis beginning Sept. 21. She was previously serving as interim director of district conference, nurture and witness for Virlina District. Angella holds an associate’s degree from Dominion College of Virginia in Paralegal Studies and is a 2013 graduate of the district’s Christian Growth Institute. Following service as children’s director at the Daleville and Troutville congregations, Angella served in pastoral leadership at Vinton Church of the Brethren for the last 13 years, concluding her service on May 31. In addition to her service to the local church, she has served the district through the Children’s Cabinet and on the District Conference Program and Arrangements Committee. Beyond her gifts and skills for pastoral leadership, Angella also brings experience from her previous secular work, where she was employed by the Trust Company of Virginia.

Aly Heckeroth began Oct. 13 as FaithX assistant coordinator for the 2026 season, serving through Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) at the Church of the Brethren General Offices in Elgin, Ill. She is starting her second year in BVS, after having served for a year at Highland Park Elementary in Roanoke, Va. She is a member of Messiah Church of the Brethren in Kansas City, Mo., and a 2024 graduate of Bridgewater (Va.) College with a degree in philosophy and religion.
