IN OUR PRAYERS

A district prayer calendar has been created for your use in praying for our district and related programs through the year. We invite you to include the following in your prayers in coming weeks:

Week of June 14: Pray for the Cerro Gordo congregation, and for the work of the Church of the Brethren Ministry Office as it equips and supports pastors across the denomination.

Week of June 21: Pray for the Woodland congregation in Astoria, and for the work of the Church of the Brethren’s Global Missions office as it connects and works with Brethren communities around the world.

Week of June 28: Hold in prayer the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference meeting this week in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as delegates make decisions for the church and Brethren come together for worship and conversation and education. Pray for moderator Don Fitzkee and moderator-elect Dennis Beckner, for Conference secretary David Shumate and Annual Conference director Rhonda Pittman Gingrich, and for all those providing leadership for the denomination.

Week of July 5: Pray for the La Place congregation, and for the Church of the Brethren (Iglesia de los Hermanos) in the Dominican Republic.

Week of July 12: Pray for the outdoor ministry of Camp Emmaus, for all the volunteers and staff assisting there this summer; for all the children, youth, and others who will be part of the camps happening there, and for manager Randall Westfall and his family.

Week of July 19: Pray for the Church of the Brethren National Youth Conference taking place this week in Colorado, and for all the youth of our district as they continue to grow and explore who God is calling them to be. Pray also for the denomination’s Youth/Young Adult Ministries office and all the ways it equips youth and advisors, and for director Becky Ullom Naugle (Highland Avenue).

Week of July 26: Pray for the Charismatic Christian Center in Chicago, and for the faculty, staff, and students of Bethany Theological Seminary.

Week of Aug. 2: Pray for the Springfield First congregation, and for the students, staff, and faculty at Manchester University in Indiana as they prepare to begin a new year of learning.

Week of Aug. 9: Pray for the Freeport congregation, and for all those working against gun violence and supporting victims of these too-frequent tragedies.
