Are you being called? That’s the question our district conference theme asks this year, and it’s an important one. ARE you being called? In some form or other, the answer is probably yes.
Throughout scripture, we hear stories of people hearing, dodging, questioning, fleeing, accepting, and answering calls from God. Men and women, young and old—many of them seem like most unlikely sorts to receive such an invitation, yet there they stand as heroes of the faith. Sometimes the call was big, sometimes small, but each one played a unique role in God’s unfolding story.
Outgoing Eastern Mennonite University president Susan Schultz Huxman, in an earlier article, mused, “Wouldn’t it be nice if like the young man Samuel (in 1 Samuel 3) we could all hear a ‘clarion call’ for how we can best serve God in our lives and then eagerly respond to that call?”
Admittedly, we don’t typically hear a voice calling or booming from heaven. We don’t have face-to-face conversations with God or Jesus or angelic messengers like those saints of scripture so often did. Can we really say, though, that we never hear God calling us?
At our district Potluck Experience this past spring, many of the speakers shared that God’s call typically came through people who knew them well, that relationships were key to the invitation. “When we’re called to something, we see things differently,” one speaker said. “Every single moment is an opportunity,” another added.
Some of that calling and answering is happening in our district. In a three-month span from August to November, we’ve had or will have two licensing services, an ordination service, and a commissioning (formerly ordination for term of service). We have at least four other people exploring calls to ministry and taking courses. We have many others answering calls as volunteers at camps, on various district teams and committees, and elsewhere (although we can use more!) Our district Ministry Leadership Development Team will be offering a “Calling the Called” equipping session at district conference next month, providing some further resources and ideas for those who might be feeling that tingling of the Spirit.
At a Council of District Executives meeting earlier this year, Bethany Theological Seminary president Jeff Carter said, “We are not responsible for the answer, but we are responsible for the call.” Whose gifts have you called out and encouraged lately? And who might be calling to you to use your gifts to serve Christ and the church? Are you being called?
In addition to regular meetings, Walt will be preaching and holding meetings at Cerro Gordo on Oct. 19, attending an interim/transitional ministry workshop Oct. 23, preaching at Mount Morris on Oct. 26, worshiping and conducting a licensing service at Dutchtown (Milledgeville) Nov. 2, attending and providing leadership at district conference in Bloomington Nov. 7-8, worshiping at Peoria First Nov. 9, returning to Mount Morris Nov. 16, and serving as worship leader as a new interim pastor begins at York Center on Nov. 23.

The Illinois/Wisconsin District is remembering with gratitude the life of Donald (Don) A. Hart Sr., 82, who passed away Sept. 15. He was 82. A member of Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren, he was a long-time, dedicated volunteer with Brethren Disaster Ministries and Camp Emmaus as well as other local groups. His obituary stated, "Helping others came naturally to Don, and as his faith deepened, his compassion became even more Christ-centered." Don was born in Milledgeville, Illinois, and later moved to California, where he married his wife, Cathy, in 1980. They moved back to Lanark in the mid-1990s, where they opened Don Hart's Automotive and operated several rental properties. He loved the outdoors and was known for his ability to "fix just about anything." By wishes of the family, no memorial service will be held. Our prayers are with Cathy and other family members and friends in this time of loss.
The Illinois/Wisconsin District is remembering with gratitude the life of Paul Kohler, 84, a long-time former pastor at Champaign Church of the Brethren and a former moderator of the district. Paul passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, in Savoy. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he was a retired math teacher. He also had a background in IT work and owned Kohler Computer Service Systems. He served as moderator of the 2018 district conference held in Cerro Gordo, Ill., with the theme "Preach the Word" (pictured, with then-moderator-elect Leslie Lake). Owens Funeral Home in Champaign is handling arrangements, which are still being finalized. Our prayers are with Paul's family and friends and the Champaign congregation in this time of loss.
Happy Pastor/Clergy Appreciation Month! We hope you show appreciation to your pastor and other clergy members EVERY month, but make an extra effort to do so this month.
Dennis Webb has announced his retirement as pastor at Naperville, effective Dec. 31. Dennis has served the church there for well over two decades, and we wish him well as he plans for the next chapter of his life! Conversations have begun with the congregation about next steps.
Gay Bouwmeester was officially licensed to ministry in the denomination during a worship service at the Highland Avenue congregation in Elgin on Sept. 21, fulfilling a lifetime dream. Also at Highland Avenue, Krista Dutt, who is serving as interim pastor at Highland Avenue, was commissioned to ministry in the denomination at an evening service on Oct. 12. Many of her family members and friends from Chicago were able to attend. Commissioning is equivalent to ordination, but for a specific location.
Ed Livengood will be licensed to the ministry during worship on Nov. 2 at Dutchtown (Milledgeville), where he began serving this year as an internally called preacher. District executive Walt Wiltschek will officiate. Ed is exploring future educational possibilities.
Eric Wetzel will begin as pastor at Lanark on Nov. 2. Eric was called to serve the congregation during a visit weekend Aug. 30-31. He has been serving the Mountain Grove congregation in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where they have several adult children. Sherry works in food service for the local schools and will be seeking similar work here. Welcome, Eric and Sherry!
Several other members of the district are discerning a call to ministry and will be exploring with calling cohorts or interviews in the coming months. Please be in prayer for them as they seek God’s direction for their lives and work.
The Church of the Brethren Ministry Office has a new webpage focused on Sabbath Renewal. Resources from the Pastoral Compensation & Benefits Advisory Committee available there include a 5-minute video of pastor Angela Finet sharing about her sabbath renewal experience and a brief Google forms survey on Sabbath Renewal, which pastors are encouraged to take.
A recording of an equipping session offered at this year’s Annual Conference titled “Many Hands Make Weighty Work Light: A Shared Ministry Model” is now available. Featuring presenters from four congregations, including our own Springfield First, the session describes how such a model strengthens a congregation’s sense of giftedness, its call to discipleship, and mission. Find the recording at www.brethren.org/ministryoffice/shared-ministry-model. Plans for a shared ministry team event in 2026 are also under way.
Any ordained or commissioned ministers who still have not turned in their paperwork for the 2025 ordination renewal cycle should do so as soon as possible. Ordinations and commissionings cannot be renewed for the next five-year period until all the forms have been received.
Congregational vacancies/updates:
Cerro Gordo: Larry Traxler retired as pastor effective Aug. 10. A search committee has been formed, and a congregational profile is now available. Cerro Gordo is currently using pulpit supply. District executive Walt Wiltschek will visit the congregation and meet with the search committee on Oct. 19.
Highland Avenue (Elgin): Krista Dutt (Chicago First) began serving as interim pastor on April 1. Krista was recently affirmed for commissioning in the Church of the Brethren. The congregation has called a search committee and is working on a profile.
Lanark: Eric Wetzel was called as pastor on Aug. 31 and will begin Nov. 2.
Mount Morris: Rodney Caldwell completed his service as pastor effective Aug. 31. District executive Walt Wiltschek is serving as a partial interim pastor through the fall (two Sundays per month) to assist with the transition, as the church also recently sold its building and is now meeting in the Allure of Pinecrest Grove community building. Walt and the congregation have met several times to work on next steps.
Naperville: Dennis Webb announced his retirement effective Dec. 31. Initial conversations with the church board have begun about next steps.
Woodland: Local pastor Mathew Thiner is serving as an interim preacher and providing some pastoral care. Woodland member Kevin Sager is also helping to provide interim leadership, aided by a congregational team.
York Center (Lombard): Jonathan Shively and Tony Asta completed a nine-month contract as an interim ministry team on Sept. 30. The congregation had a farewell/thank you reception for them on Sept. 28. Gay Bouwmeester has been called as part-time interim pastor beginning Nov. 16. The congregation is considering next steps, and a congregational profile is available.
Mount Morris is settling into its new home at the Allure of Pinecrest Grove community building, located at the corner of S. McKendrie Ave. and Evergreen Lane. The spacious auditorium in the center of the building provides the setting for worship, while a café’ area hosts fellowship after worship and other rooms provide space for meetings, an office, Christian education, and other needs. Worship is held at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. The congregation still hopes to hold a service of celebration and farewell at the former building in conjunction with the Hispanic congregation that bought the property, but a date is still being finalized. Canton had its annual wiener roast and bonfire at Bob Champlin’s Ranch on Oct. 12. A recent congregational newsletter article also highlighted Canton’s “Blessing Box,” which provides basic supplies and food to families in need. Ray Cleer built and installed the box after Jackie Davis sparked the initial idea, and a committee of Lori Beecham, Tammy Kessler, and Theresa Wilcoxen (pictured) works on keeping it stocked to serve the neighborhood.
Highland Avenue (Elgin) held an all-church potluck picnic on Sept. 28 at Wing Park. The event was sponsored by the congregation’s Connections Team. … Members of the congregation also planned to take part in the Elgin CROP Hunger Walk on Oct. 19.
Peoria First will do its annual fall Mountain Mission trip to the Henderson Settlement in Kentucky Nov. 13-16. In addition to delivering donations and assisting at the Henderson Settlement, the trip includes meals, a stop at the Berean Artisan Village Center and visit at Natural Bridge State Resort, and good worship and fellowship. The congregation also recently raised over $1,200 to assist with a plumbing project in Henderson.
About 10 members of the Mount Morris and Polo congregations took part in the Ogle County CROP Walk on Sept. 28 to raise funds for hunger.
Freeport held its annual drive-thru pork chop meal on Sept. 28.
Chicago First had a group gardening time in its New Horizons Garden, located just north of the church, this past Saturday, Oct. 11. The congregation also recently joined Supportive Communities Network.
The Illinois Mennonite Heritage Center in Germantown/Metamora, Ill., will hold an event titled “Anabaptism Goes Global” on Oct. 18, beginning at 10 a.m. It will feature Elizabeth Miller, assistant professor of history in the Institute for the Study of Global Anabaptism at Goshen College in Indiana. A fellowship lunch will follow the presentation.
Bill Hare recently shared an update on the Honduras Mission Project that he oversaw for many years, and is now being managed by volunteer Brad Long of Polo. With Brad’s help, about 50,000 pounds of rice and cornmeal was hauled by box truck loads to villages and families in need this year. About 3,600 families were served. Bill hopes to be able to have additional food supplies distributed in the months ahead.
Nov. 30 is the deadline for applications for Brethren Faith in Action Fund (BFIA) grants to be funded with money available in 2025. Generated from the sale of the upper campus of the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, Md., the BFIA funds outreach ministry projects that serve communities, strengthen congregations, and expand the reign of God. Such ministries will honor and continue the legacy of service that the center has epitomized while also addressing the dynamics of the present age. Grants of up to $5,000 per congregation or ministry project per year are awarded with a maximum of $15,000 allocated to any one ministry project over multiple years. Camps may apply for grants up to $2,500 every other year. Any United States Church of the Brethren congregation, fellowship, or project, and any Church of the Brethren camp may apply. Ecumenism Metro Chicago plans to hold a Week of Prayer for Christian Unity ecumenical service on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church (6700 W. Diversey Ave.) in Chicago. The theme is “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling” from Eph. 4:4.

The district is pleased to announce that Debbie Noffsinger of the Highland Avenue congregation (Elgin) has been called as district conference coordinator for Illinois/Wisconsin, beginning with the 2026 cycle. The district leadership team affirmed her call at its meeting on Oct. 7.
Debbie brings a wealth of experience in this area, having served as part-time Annual Conference assistant for the Church of the Brethren since 2010. She’ll continue in this role alongside her new district duties, which match up well schedule-wise. She also has her own freelance graphic design business and has often designed logos for the district and others. She has a bachelor’s degree in art from McPherson (Kan.) College.
This represents a shift in the district office model, moving from the previous administrative assistant position to one that focuses on specific tasks, as many of the office processes have been able to be automated or streamlined. Welcome, Debbie, to the district team!
Phyllis has worked extensively in the fields of immigration and deportation cases for many years and wrote the book "Love Has No Borders: True Stories of Desperation as Seen by a Social Worker." While the workshop was not recorded, Phyllis did share many of the resources discussed in the workshop and some others. If you did not register for or attend the workshop but would like to view the resources, please contact the district office.
Deportation Defense Response Team: This denominational effort, organized by five districts with large numbers of undocumented members to provide support, advocacy, and legal assistance as needed—is inviting partnerships. Congregations wishing to aid this need through special offerings or other fundraising can send gifts to Atlantic Southeast District; contact district executive Beth Sollenberger for more information about sending an offering to the Deportation Defense Response Team at atlanticsoutheastcob@gmail.com. Some of the families of the detained or deported people are homeless and in need of legal and financial support. The team will distribute funds received to members of the church facing immigration challenges who are in need of legal support. A recent denominational Emergency Disaster Fund grant sent $25,000 to aid this effort. The group is also seeking Brethren attorneys who might be willing to assist the work. Biweekly Prayer Gatherings for Immigrant Justice are now held every other Thursday from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Central over Zoom. Find more information and RSVP at www.onearthpeace.org/2025_09_prayer_gathering_for_immigrant_justice.
It will be held at The Chateau Hotel & Conference Center in Bloomington, Ill., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, in the Library Room off the hotel lobby. Cost is $25 including lunch and all materials. A grant from the denomination’s Part-Time Pastor, Full-Time Church program is underwriting the event.
While clergy are especially encouraged to attend (and can receive 0.5 CEU's for participation), all are welcome. Delegate registration is covered by each congregation’s district assessment, up to the allotted number of delegates; this assessment must be paid in order for delegates to be seated. Facility: The district Program & Arrangements Committee decided to use a conference center this year since no other congregations in the South/Central region that hadn’t already held district events recently were readily available to host in their buildings in 2025. Cerro Gordo and perhaps other area congregations will help to “host” the conference in Bloomington, however, and Peoria First members are working on worship center plans. The Chateau is a unique facility, designed like a medieval castle, located at Veterans Parkway and Jumer Drive in Bloomington, right by the Bloomington-Normal line. It has an indoor pool and small fitness center. Numerous restaurants, a supermarket, and other stores are located nearby. It is easily accessed from I-55, I-74, and I-39. There’s also an Amtrak and bus station in downtown Normal with regular public bus service that drops off across the street from the hotel. The Bloomington airport is only about two miles away. The Constitution Trail runs along the river just behind the hotel for walking or cycling. The hotel and meeting spaces are handicapped-accessible, and ample parking is available. In addition to the main hotel lobby entrance, a breezeway entrance and parking are available behind the hotel at the conference center area.
Lodging: A block of rooms has been set aside for our group at The Chateau Hotel. A smaller block is available Thursday night for anyone wishing to come ahead of the pre-conference event on Friday or to enjoy some extra time in the area, with a larger block available for Friday night. The rate is $99/night plus tax for a single king or double queen room, including continental breakfast. Parking is free. To reserve, call the hotel directly at 309-662-2020 and mention that you’re part of the Church of the Brethren event.
Meals: A plated lunch provided by the conference center will be available for order on Saturday at $20 per person. Choices will be Chicken a la Greque or Vegetarian Lasagna. An email about meals will be sent to delegates and non-delegates after they register. The deadline to order a lunch is Nov. 1. A boxed lunch will also be included as part of the Friday pre-conference educational event. Numerous restaurants are available nearby, as well. A list of options will be included as part of the conference materials.
Exhibits: An exhibit area will be available surrounding our dining space in the Bonaparte Room.
Schedule: The main conference will start with a hymn sing at 7:10 p.m. and worship at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening in the Smart Auditorium. An ice cream social with packaged ice cream treats will follow. Saturday, business will begin at 8:45 a.m., and is scheduled to end by 4 p.m. Equipping session options will be available after lunch on Saturday. Exhibits will be open throughout the conference.
Delegates: All congregations are encouraged to send delegates to the conference. An assessment of $30 per delegate and a count of allotted delegates has been sent to each congregation. Per the 2022 constitution revisions, each congregation of 100 or fewer members can send three delegates, with one additional delegate for every 100 members or portion thereof. The pastor (if any) and board/leadership team chair typically serve as delegates, along with at-large members called by the congregation. Assessments must be paid in order to seat delegates; this does not include meal or lodging costs. To date, the following congregations have paid assessments: Canton, Chicago First, Cerro Gordo, Dixon, Freeport, Girard, Highland Avenue, Lanark, Mount Morris, Naperville, Neighborhood, Peoria First, Polo, Woodland, Yellow Creek, and York Center.
Non-delegates: The registration cost for non-delegates this year will be $15 per person, not including meal or lodging costs. Registration information can be found above. Anyone is welcome to attend the conference, but all need to register.
Business: Among the items on the agenda will be the district budget for 2026, the slate of candidates for offices that is being finalized by the Gifts Discernment and Call Committee and the leadership team, a recommendation to officially disorganize the Rockford Community church, agency and committee reports, and equipping session workshops.
Pre-Conference Continuing Education Event: A continuing education event offering training and discussion around the topic of Kingian Non-Violence will be offered by On Earth Peace from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, in the hotel’s Library Room off the main lobby. It is open to anyone. Clergy can receive 0.5 CEU’s for participating. See more details above.
Conference Service Project: Champaign Church of the Brethren has an important outreach ministry in their neighborhood, headed up by ministry leader Dawn Blackman. In addition to their community gardens, they have a food pantry and the Dorcas Clothes Closet. The district Program and Arrangements Committee wants to support these ministries, so our service project for district conference invites your congregation to send some of the following items:

Other: Due to the venue and limited usage in recent years, we do not anticipate having a Zoom option available this year, but we’re looking into recording parts of the events. … There will not be an auction at district conference this year. … BYOB! Bring your own bottle, that is! The Program & Arrangements Committee decided not to purchase bottled water for this year’s conference, so attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottle to fill during the weekend.

Camp Emmaus held its annual Camp Celebration Day and Lunch on Sept. 13, with an abundant buffet meal and dessert table followed by sharing and updates from the summer and details on upcoming events, as well as time to browse camp store items and enjoy the grounds. A new Campfire Award went to Sara Garner and Aaron Gerdes. On Sept. 27, the camp was host to a training event for the Illinois Search and Rescue Council.
The district is invited to a campfire and fall event on Saturday, Oct. 18, beginning at 12 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the camp and then take part in hayrack rides around the property, followed by a campfire and s’mores, ending by 4:30 p.m.
Upcoming “Escape to Emmaus” activity days include Woodcarving a Pumpkin Caricature Day on Oct. 18, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (cost $20); Primitive Shelter Building Day, Nov. 22, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (cost $10); and Earth Tones: A Creative Songwriting & Poetry Workshop, Dec. 13, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (cost $15). The events are open to all ages. See more and register at www.campemmaus.org. The camp will also be host to Oregon Park District’s Owl-o-ween Nightwalk, beginning 7 p.m. Oct. 24. Register by Oct. 17 through the park district.
The fall leaf-raking day at the camp will be Saturday, Nov. 15, with a youth retreat held Nov. 14-16. The youth retreat, led by Alissa Clark, begins Friday at 7 p.m. and ends at noon on Sunday. Cost: $50. The leaf-raking day begins in the morning and wraps up when the leaves have been corralled. Bring a rake if possible. Snacks and beverages are provided.

The 2025 Church of the Brethren Outdoor Ministries Association (OMA) national conference will take place Nov. 16-20 at Inspiration Hills near Burbank, Ohio, with the theme “Campfire Conversations.” The keynote speaker will be Travis Troyer of Off the Wall Discipleship. Workshop options will include a camp tour, group sharing, and more. A field trip will take participants to BibleWalk, featuring more than 325 wax figures of biblical scenes, and games, debriefing, and recreation will also be part of the week. The 2026 OMA “InsideOut” camp curriculum will be titled “In the Wilderness.” An introduction to the theme notes: “Wilderness is a time or place where we encounter what is new, strange, scary, lonely, unknown or mysterious. The wilderness is a wild and beautiful time and place where we can discover the sacred within each person and all creation. … The wilderness reveals our strengths, growing edges, and potential as God equips us for the unknown still to come. The wilderness awaits us all, and God meets us there.” The annual InsideOut curriculum is a partnership between the Church of the Brethren and a variety of other denominations for use in outdoor ministry. Brethren Disaster Ministries (BDM) is continuing work this year at a rebuilding site in Letcher County, Ky., with new builds and repairs of homes damaged during the July 2022 flooding event. Illinois/Wisconsin is scheduled to assist with a team in Letcher County Dec. 7-13. A second project site is expected to open later this year. In 2026, our district’s volunteer week will shift to the summer, late August/early September.
For those interested in volunteering with Children’s Disaster Services, two trainings are available in spring 2026: Feb. 20-21 in Beaufort, S.C., and Feb. 27-28 in Glendale, Ariz. Registration, including all meals, curriculum, and overnight is $55 for early bird, and $65 if sent less than three weeks before the event. Participants in the 25-hour training, which includes a simulated shelter experience, learn to provide comfort and encouragement to children by offering the healing young children need in traumatic situations. The Annual Conference office recently announced that advance registration for delegates will be $350 and for non-delegates $175. Onsite registration is $425 and $210, respectively. Daily fees are also available for those not attending the full week. A virtual registration option will be available for $220.
The three official conference hotel options will range in cost from $128 to $135 per night plus tax, with a discounted daily parking fee of $8. Annual Conference registration and housing will open to the public on March 4.

The National Older Adult Conference (NOAC) planning team is pleased to announce it is launching a NOAC book study, with the aim of establishing study groups on Zoom in the winter months. The group plans to begin with a book from one of the 2025 NOAC speakers; once they see if there is interest, they will choose a book, line up leaders, and set a schedule. “We want these groups to continue the conversation of what it means to be followers of Jesus Christ in our world today, build fellowship, and provide an opportunity for us to learn and challenge one another,” the team said. The denomination’s Ministry Office will offer an Interim Ministry Roundtable event on Oct. 23, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Central time. It will be led by Tara Hornbacker, Enten Eller, and Christy Dowdy, all of whom have experience in interim/transitional ministry. The event will offer an opportunity to “learn more about the possibilities of interim ministries, to ask questions about ways to navigate transitional times, and discuss current challenges with others who share the same journey.” The event is free, and advance registration is not required. Designed particularly for ministers new to the Church of the Brethren denomination, Bethany Theological Seminary’s new certificate of achievement in ministry studies (CAMS) includes six courses that focus on Brethren history and theology, practical experience with the ordinances and preaching of the church, biblical interpretation, and peace studies. The Virlina District board of the Church of the Brethren called Angella F. Haranzo to serve as associate district executive minister on a half-time basis beginning Sept. 21. She was previously serving as interim director of district conference, nurture and witness for Virlina District. Angella holds an associate’s degree from Dominion College of Virginia in Paralegal Studies and is a 2013 graduate of the district’s Christian Growth Institute. Following service as children’s director at the Daleville and Troutville congregations, Angella served in pastoral leadership at Vinton Church of the Brethren for the last 13 years, concluding her service on May 31. In addition to her service to the local church, she has served the district through the Children’s Cabinet and on the District Conference Program and Arrangements Committee. Beyond her gifts and skills for pastoral leadership, Angella also brings experience from her previous secular work, where she was employed by the Trust Company of Virginia.
Aly Heckeroth began Oct. 13 as FaithX assistant coordinator for the 2026 season, serving through Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) at the Church of the Brethren General Offices in Elgin, Ill. She is starting her second year in BVS, after having served for a year at Highland Park Elementary in Roanoke, Va. She is a member of Messiah Church of the Brethren in Kansas City, Mo., and a 2024 graduate of Bridgewater (Va.) College with a degree in philosophy and religion.
The Church of the Brethren is seeking an office assistant for Discipleship and Leadership Formation. This part-time, 20-hour weekly position is located at the General Offices in Elgin. The major responsibility is to enhance and support the functions of the Discipleship & Leadership Formation Department by assisting the department’s administrative assistant in a variety of tasks. The Church of the Brethren has an open position for a part-time (20 hours/week) Buildings and Grounds assistant at the General Offices in Elgin. This person will perform custodial services for the General Offices and provide support on services such as room set-up, mail, shipping, supplies, equipment, maintenance, warehouse operations and other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds. The Church of the Brethren Intercultural Ministries Jubilee Celebration that had been scheduled to take place Nov. 18-21 in Gotha, Fla., at Camp Ithiel has been cancelled, citing concerns over immigration enforcement and other issues.
FaithX is hosting a special service trip for adults ages 50-plus at Camp Ithiel in Gotha, Fla., Feb. 22-27, 2026. Previous trips included camp projects of painting a cabin, tree trimming, invasive species removal, deep cleaning, and kitchen assistance as well as Bible study, games, bird watching, puzzles, rocking chair relaxation, and recreational trips away from camp.
